Casa Gemelli – The hidden heart of Gozo

A family legacy turned into a boutique haven — Casa Gemelli in Gozo blends tradition, warmth, and charm for an unforgettable Mediterranean stay.

Our mother Maria was a stalwart in the hospitality sector. My sister (Sonia) and I were brought up in the tourism sector since the tender age of 10. When this place became available, it was a clear choice for us to take on the project and even more with our mother’s blessing. Following in her footsteps was a natural step for us both.

We have been somehow involved in the tourism industry since the tender age of 10, when our mother used to run a family hotel. In 2003 we ended up with our grandma’s family home in our hands, and decided to renovate it into a 5 bedroom hostel. Due to the growing demand, in 2007 we made a major renovation and ended up with a 15 bedroom guest house. Maria Giovanna takes after both our late Grandma and Mama, two strong pillars to whom we owe who we are today and we attribute our success in life to the moral, intellectual education we received from them.

With passion, enthusiasm and the pinch of authentic local touch, we like our guests to experience an unforgettable holiday replying to your needs and wishes, surprising and exceeding your expectations.

The overall atmosphere our guests are greeted with is the hushed calm they can feel when walking in off a city street to a secret garden. The air of utmost tranquility and ease is addictive. Our guests return home feeling they have been cared for, valued and at home in a special way.

Both my sister and I were brought up in the tourism industry, back in the years our mum who was a chef in a family hotel. Basically we were brought up in a hotel kitchen.

Over the time, we both studied Management and Tourism where being hands on the job we were able to highlight our skills, handle guests from different cultures and situations. We developed in our communication, problem solving, teamwork and leadership as well as adapting to work under pressure.

We both grew to be more patient and empathetic, great culture awareness and understanding people. All of this has gained us confidence in presenting ourselves professionally. These qualities we will carry throughout our career path.

Casa Gemelli: The Hidden Heart of Gozo

In the heart of Victoria, Casa Gemelli Boutique Guesthouse stands out as a charming retreat created by Anna Azzopardi. With its beautiful decoration and warm atmosphere, it instantly feels welcoming. Anna’s experience and friendly approach make guests feel at home, while the delicious breakfast adds a special touch to the stay. A true hidden gem in Gozo, where comfort and hospitality meet in perfect harmony.

When it came to design, we both wanted to give our guests a complete Gozitan experience. Our father used to be an antique dealer – hence all our furniture pieces. We had to abide with the requirements both from the Malta Tourism Authority and relevant offices. These modern touches blended in perfectly with the historic charm of the house.

The architecture of the house itself being a traditional Maltese townhouse reflects a theme era and local culture. Our guests are not just a room number. They are known by their names and given a cozy residential feel compared to the impersonal nature of large hotels.
